Nonfiction Editing
Are you looking for an editor for your book? Or someone to check over your organization’s publications?
I edit nonfiction for authors and nonprofit organizations. I have edited science-based health topics, hobbies, narrative histories, physical activity, health equity and inclusion, dance, personal finance, tips for video meetings, and more.
A discussion and a sample edit can help us decide whether we are a good fit for each other.

It’s your writing. I help your voice sing.
What does it cost?
I’ll give you a quote after I see the project—or at least a few pages of it. I offer a sample edit at $75 for 1,250 words (credited against the contract if we work together) to demonstrate what you will get. Rates are typically $60-$70 per hour, depending on the project.
Why hire an editor?
Editors help you say what you want to say, clearly and in your own voice. Editors also help publications across an organization have a consistent style.
For manuscript editing, which sometimes uses terms such as line editing or copyediting, I work with your text to standardize punctuation, spelling, grammar, and formatting; replace awkward word choices; ask you questions where meaning or action is unclear; verify spelling for proper names and places; and make suggestions you can approve or reject. Manuscripts are edited in Microsoft Word.
